The focus today was on registration– getting everyone settled in before tomorrow’s chapter improvements/ benefits workshops, and Friday’s careers/college speakers and workshops. I’ve seen some of the work that Shanna and others have put in to these presentations, so those of you who are at the Summit (or will be following it online) will learn a great deal.
So far today I only worked for an hour at the registration table, what with being busy writing speaker bios, editing STAR status materials and helping Sara (our graphics editor) with website updates.
The registration desk has an interesting system. When people come up, we check them off the list, give them a name tag, hand them a T-shirt, give them a program guide and remind them about the community service project. Sounds straightforward, right? It’s amazing then that it takes me 10 seconds longer than I anticipated to find someone’s name tag. Sure they’re alphabetical. But apparently my brain sometimes forgets that the letter h precedes the letter o. So far everyone has been pleasant about it. We’ll see how they react when I’m at the registration desk from 6:45pm-8pm– which is toward the tail end of registration.
